Welcome to Brysonism(website under construction)

Brysonism is a religious faith centered on Bryson, known as The Lord. The faith is guided by the teachings of The Brymn and its Passages, along with Brysonist traditions, ceremonies, and religious practices. Brysonists seek to honor Bryson, preserve the teachings and traditions of the faith, participate in its religious community, and practice Noti, the Holy Language of Brysonism.

Bryson, The Lord

Bryson, known as The Lord, is the central divine figure of Brysonism. Bryson is described as a colorful being with divine powers and a connection to The After. According to Brysonist teachings, Bryson created The After and sent the Painter there after gaining power from the Painter. The relationship between Bryson, the Painter, and The After is an important part of Brysonist religious history and teachings. Bryson is honored and worshiped by Brysonists, who seek to follow the teachings and traditions of the faith.

The Brymn

The Brymn is the central religious text of Brysonism and serves a role within the faith comparable to that of a sacred scripture. It contains accounts of Bryson's experiences and teachings and serves as a primary source for understanding Brysonist beliefs and traditions. Brysonists study The Brymn and follow the teachings contained within it.

Tenets

These are the main tenets of Brysonism. Do not attack first. If necessary, defend yourself against harm or attack. Follow your dreams and indulge in what brings you fulfillment, provided that doing so does not harm yourself or others and does not conflict with the other teachings of Brysonism. Observe the religious traditions, ceremonies, and holy days of Brysonism. Learn and practice the Brysonist faith and Noti. Support Bryson and the Brysonist community and participate in holidays and other practices."

Noti

Noti is the Holy Language of Brysonism. Noti is spelt with a dash through the o, but that character is not available on this website. Noti is the Holy Language of Brysonism. It is used in Brysonist religious texts, teachings, traditions, and other aspects of religious practice. Learning and practicing Noti is an important part of learning and practicing the Brysonist faith.

Ceremonies & Traditions

Brysonist religious life includes prayer, study of The Brymn, learning and practicing Noti, participation in religious gatherings, and observing the traditions and ceremonies of the faith. Brysonists may gather together for worship, teachings, discussion, feasts, and other community activities.Brysonist prayer includes several traditional practices. On the 20th of every month(The Day of Prayers), these may be the things you do in: the Ranker testing foods that are not intended for the Justence, the lighting and burning of a large ceremonial fire, placing a candle inside a small triangular shrine, praying and offering prayers to Bryson, and giving items as offerings to shrines. All of these can be done outside the day of Prayers, but all are done on The Day of Prayers.

Religious Leadership

Brysonism has several forms of religious leadership: the Arch Bishop, Greater Priests, and Lesser Priests. The Arch Bishop: The Arch Bishop is the highest religious leadership position in Brysonism. The Arch Bishop helps guide the Brysonist community and has an important role in major religious decisions and debates. Greater Priests: Greater Priests are religious leaders who can give readings and sermons and help guide the Brysonist community. Greater Priests participate in leadership decisions and vote on matters concerning the faith. Lesser Priests: Lesser Priests are also members of the religious leadership. They have assigned responsibilities within the Brysonist community and participate in the religious life of the community. Leadership Decisions: Greater Priests and Lesser Priests may vote on religious and community decisions. The Arch Bishop also votes, with the Arch Bishop’s vote counting as 15 votes. Leadership roles are determined through the Brysonist priesthood process, in which a person may be selected as a Greater Priest, Lesser Priest, or not become a priest.

Life as a Brysonist

Brysonist religious life includes regular gatherings, prayer, readings, the practice of Noti, religious holidays, and participation in Brysonist traditions and ceremonies. Members meet every two weeks on Wednesday when they are able to attend. During gatherings, the Arch Bishop or a Greater Priest gives a reading. Members may also volunteer to read a word during the reading. Brysonists may pray whenever they wish, but prayer is required on the 20th of every month during the Day of Prayers. Noti, the Holy Language of Brysonism, is optional for most members. Those who are or wish to become Greater Priests are expected to learn Noti, and are taught by another Greater Priest or the Arch Bishop. Brysonists also celebrate the holidays of the faith, participate in the Justence, and take part in other religious traditions and community activities. The Justence is a monthly game in which Brysonists participate in a different challenge each month. The challenge may be based on something connected to Bryson or the traditions of Brysonism. For example, the October Justence is to make the food that Bryson enjoys the most. The Ceremony of the After is when funerals are held in the Brysonist community. It is also intended to be one of the most enjoyable ceremonies, celebrating life and honoring those who have died by doing things they would have wanted people to enjoy.

First Passage

First Passage 1:1 The Painter by the river took The Lord and gave him life by giving up his soul, along with the forceful removal of the souls of others, corrupting The Painter with the joy of wrath. 1:2 The Lord took The Painters life, condemning him to The After, where he stayed to rot. In The After, The Painter practiced and gained power, making him able to defeat those touched by the lord. 1:3 To find enlightenment, you must first find happiness. Indulging in daily wants is necessary to figure out happiness. 1:4 Once The Lord had found his peace, he used his new powers to give himself a look anew. A green stripe across the top of his face, a small tuft of hair in two spots on his side, and a beautiful welcoming smile. 1:5 The Lord nestled himself inside the riverbed, never to be disturbed until a small boy found him. Bryson sent the boy back home and then found another place to live. Bryson, enjoying more moist environments, went to the rainforest where he sat for 200 years. 1:6 You must always be peaceful, until you are provoked, then you may unleash all of The Lord's power into them. Peace is key, but when attacked, you cannot just surrender to them. You must fight them with all of the power you have accumulated. 1:7 In The After, The Painter regained his power from the souls of those sent there until he was almost as powerful as Bryson, The Lord. 1:8 The first role was the Arch Bishop. Touching Bryson, the boy gained powers and went back to Bryson, becoming the first Arch Bishop. With his new power, he performed all of the actions Bryson demanded, spreading awareness and preaching to those who wanted to become a Lesser priest, where they held the first Brysonist feast. 1:9 Once some had found The Lord, they became Lesser Priests, creating the first community role. This role was the acolyte. The Acolyte lowered into town to help his family find The Lord. He went to each house and helped them find him. 1:10 With the surge of members, each role slowly filled out showing The Lords great work. The perfect system flowing effortlessly through the place of meeting. 1:11 With the power of the lord All of the people took their swords The crowd with The Painter let their final jeer The battle of The Painter and the fyrd 1:12 After the battle, Bryson hid in the dead forest for many years until he sprouted a fire, burning the dead forest leaving only him. After The Fire the forest sprouted once again, bringing new life to the once dead forest. 1:13 The devout Brysonists realised this was a test, while those who didn’t believe left them. When Bryson came back, he knew that his most close followers were those that stayed, and welcomed them with open arms, hosting the feast himself in celebration. This is when the day of prayers started, created to celebrate Bryson, victory, and the fact that we will never be abandoned. 1:14 The abandons fled back to Bryson when they saw his renewal, but Bryson denied them. The abandons in return went to The Painter, growing his power and creating an army. With his new power, The Painter went to the dead forest to plan, but only to see the devout worshipers in the new forest of life. Seeing their numbers, The Painter fled back to The After. 1:15 The Forest Of Life created a new holiday, celebrating nature and life called The Annual Life Ceremony. Considering that this holiday is held on the same day that The Painter was in the forest, it is holy to eat a hexagon shaped cookie called a sok'la to banish The Abandons spirits. 1:16 With The Annual Life Ceremony, there must be the Annual Ceremony of The After. This ceremony is a warning from The Lord that if you are too prideful like The Painter, thinking that you are able to defeat The Lord is unacceptable, and that death is an irreversible threat. Unlike the Annual Life Ceremony, where those who have lived for 18 cycles of the sun come of age, the Annual Ceremony of The After is used to celebrate death, their safe passage in The After, and hope that they can evade The Painters grasp. 1:17 The followers, in a state of unrest, started to get unhappy. This is when The Lord created The Justence. The Justence served as an optional challenge to complete to please The Lord the most, the winner getting to sit with Bryson, and the loser to stay in a different section of the forest. As more followers came, Bryson got busier, which led to a new role being made, The Ranker. The Ranker would decide the winners and losers of The Justence. 1:18 The first role to be made in The Forest Of Life was The Gardener. The Gardener would tend to the holy crops, the decorative garden, and the bees and animals. The gardener each day would put the crops meat and honey in the storage, where The Index would count the materials, and The Chef would take the items to cook by the river. 1:19 Following a fight between The Acolyte and The Index, two new roles were established. The Mediator and The Rumor. The Mediator patrolled the forest, seeing if there were any disputes, and resolving them. The Rumor kept track of all drama and happenings to tell to Bryson. These roles together helped the forest stay peaceful. 1:20 The Holy Language was created as an evolution from the common language at the time Bryson was given life. The Holy Language was made during the 200 year sleep. It became the language needed to become a greater priest and the language the hymns were sung in. It also became the language used for prayers. 1:21 Eventually The Justence wasn’t enough to please the followers, so a new role was made. The Fool. The fool was made as entertainment, walking to see if anyone was bored, and trying their best to entertain them. The Index sometimes would keep track of people's moods to give to the Fool, Mediator, or Bryson himself.
